Sahra's Archives: End of May
05/31/25
Today has felt like a long day. I woke up early to finish a couple of things from school and write. Currently, it’s 2:57 PM as I write this, working on a music piece rather than doing my proper work. Funny, how I decide to ignore some things on my plate and choose to do the in-between. I thought it was later May, 6 or 7 but it’s not, so, I proceeded to write this scroll for you all. We officially reached 10 subscribers on my mailing list, thank you for letting me slip past your emails and for all the support you all have given me. I reached 4,933 words in my book (as of today). I am just getting started, looking back at my old drafts and changing them into a new story, shaping it how I truly wish to be. I’ve changed a couple of names and backstories here and there, also moved some events and I have created a more descriptive world.
The concept remains the same and true to my twelve-year-old self but with some small modifications. I started re-writing on May 26th and I have a streak of 5 days, not bad, which is reminding me to add day 6 for today which I will do after I am done writing this to you all. I have a mood board with a map I drew as a reference point for the Kingdoms in my world. There are nine Kingdoms based on different real-life cultures with a little twist. It’s ancient and medieval with inspiring aspects of History. I submitted my first chapter for a challenge and it was nerve-wracking to do it since I am very careful with who I share quotes and my writing. Oddly, I do trust the five judges hosting the competition they are big people I admire both Authors and Readers. It brings me to the question, do guys want to read an excerpt from my book? Let me know whenever you wish to and if it’s a good idea. I will debate about it in the future.
I think I’m behind my Six Phase Writing Plan for Publishing My Book, which I planned a month ago. The goal is the same, the release day is the same, and the deadline is the same, but I’m noting that I’m a slow, slow, slow, and indecisive sometimes. When it comes to my writing I’m also embarrassed to share it which is no good mix for an Author. If I want to promote I need to share. I need to get it out there but then a lot of questions start inside my head like: “What if someone steals the names of my characters?” “My ideas?” “What if they mimic what I’m doing?” “My book name?” I still have a lot to release and a lot to think about. I get burned out and sometimes need to step out, imagine without my phone being next to me all the time, grabbing it every two seconds beside. I do not have a big company behind me and it makes it a little bit more difficult for me really. There is nothing wrong with that at all but I’m searching for ideas constantly and distraction hinders my thinking. I also sometimes am a last-minute planner (well, almost all the time) so there is no organization in that. My book is something I want to share without being super secretive about it. I’m just figuring it out as I go into the world of Authors and Readers alike.
But what I CAN tell you guys is that my book is about a rebellious Princess who runs away (I won’t reveal the reasons yet) and hires someone to protect her, since she is being chased by a couple of different people. He well, needs the coin anyway, therefore he agrees. She goes under an identity to conceal her true identity and begins doubting her protector along the way they face bad guys, discover secrets, and there is a war just around the corner with all the Kingdoms in their turmoil. She doesn’t know if she can trust him or anyone they meet. Her Protector only did for the coin and she has that very clear. He is weird. Different. Mysterious. Along the way, they make allies, enemies, and friends and discover hidden secrets. Maybe the war is bigger than they thought. They both begin their journey— but where are they going? We will have to wait and see, the big question here is: Will they end their treacherous journey together? We will have to figure that one out.
This is a basic overview of what I’m aiming for. It’s political, it’s hefty, and there is always a price to pay for freedom as we uncover our character’s journeys, it’s just starting!
For now, I will resume school for now, read, and drink a coffee. Since I want to finish what I have left and then move on to writing.
See you next time,
